Spices can do more than flavor your food

The following spices have been shown to be particularly beneficial to our health:

*Cinnamon has medicinal power. Recent studies have shown that cinnamon enhances the metabolism of glucose and cholesterol and thus may provide protection from type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. 

 A study reported in Diabetes Care highlighted cinnamon’s favorable impact on the blood fat levels of people with type 2 diabetes.  After eating one to 6 grams daily for 40 days, overall levels of unhealthy blood fats dropped significantly.  An easy way to get your cinnamon is to take capsules.  Cinnabetic is one of the brands we recommend.

*Turmeric is one of the most potent, naturally occurring anti-inflammatory agents ever identified. You can cook with it but to get the most benefit try taking Turmeric capsules by Soloray.

It's Turkey Time
We are now taking Turkey orders. This year your choices are Organic or Free Range Turkeys. The size choices are either 9 to 12 pound or 13 to 16 pound. The prices are $3.29 pr pound for organic and $1.99 pr pound for free range. Orders must be placed by November 12th and Turkeys MUST BE PICKED UP ON THE DAY OF DELEVERY, NOVEMBER 14TH. Welcome to our newest staff members!
You will see some new faces when you shop at Au Naturel Market. Kristin Muntzing is well versed in gluten free foods and issues. Mary Arent is a massage therapist who started working for us in August. Zack Shearin is a VU student who comes to us with previous experience in a health food store. Alex Stiles has a passion for healthy living. Please welcome them to the Au Naturel Family the next time you are in the store. Please be patient as we get everyone up to speed with our system.
