Using the Links Tool

The beauty of the Internet lies in the way it allows people to share information. Users from all over the world have access to share their ideas, art and knowledge. This means you! Share links with your visitors, and give them the opportunity to see the Internet from your perspective.

Del.icio.us

LBB integrates its Links tool directly to your Del.icio.us account. Del.icio.us is a social-bookmarking site, pronounced “del-ish-us” (just like Espresso Café’s Chicken Fried Muffins), created specifically to help people share their favorite web pages – and yes, to get there, you’ll actually type http://www.del.icio.us into your browser!

To get started, you’ll first need to create a del.icio.us account. Start by surfing over to http://del.icio.us and registering for a new account (upper right corner). Follow their helpful instructions to create an account, and start adding your links.

Pay close attention to your del.icio.us username as you’ll need it later when adding links to your Blog.

Lets get started!

After you’ve created your del.icio.us account, you’re ready to start adding your links to your Blog! First, let’s enable the Links Tool on your blog :

•Log in to your LBB account
•Open your Dashboard
•Click the Tools Manager
•Find the Links tool, and click the “Enable” link beneath it.

This will add the Links tool to your Blog’s Toolbar.

Enabling your Del.icio.us account

After you’ve added the Links Toolbar, you’ll need to enable your del.icio.us account.

•Click the plus (+) to expand your Links tool options.
•Click the Edit del.icio.us account link to expand the links options.
•Enter your del.icio.us username in the first text box
•Enter the number of links you’d like to display in your Links tool. This will display the most recent links you’ve added to your del.icio.us account.

Keep in mind, you don’t have to have your own del.icio.us account to use the Links tool – you can add anyone’s del.icio.us links to your Blog, as long as they’re published publicly.

Adding links to your Del.icio.us account

When you’re adding links to your del.icio.us account, keep an eye on your Title and Notes – they will be displayed inside your Links toolbar.

Link Title
Link Titles are displayed with a green background, as seen in the picture below.

Link Notes
Link Notes are displayed in small text to the right of your Link Title

Describe your Links

After you’ve added your del.icio.us account, feel free to add a note about your links.

Click the pencil icon to add a brief description to your links.

After you’ve described your links, click the Save button to continue.

That’s it!

Congratulations, you’ve now added the Links tool to your Blog.
