"Jammin' with Julius" CD

posted by milan opacich on Jan 18th, 2008 at 4:21 pm

"Jammin' with Julius" was literally a result of a jam session. Julius Peskan, a talented gypsy violinist, was passing through town and called Milan wanting to get together and "jam". Horace Mamula on bugarija, Jack Tomlin on base, and Milan on cello and vocals, along with Julius on his magic violin, spent a whole Sunday afternoon on the impromptu jam session. The next day, they met at Bud Pressner's recording studio in Glen Park and the result was the best-selling "Jammin' with Julius" recording. Believe it or not, only two sessions produced this favorite.

Song list includes: Sliku Tvoju Ljubim, Koliko Te Srce Moje Vole, Sanjaj Marelo, Srela Sam Te, U Mom Selo, Mene Majka Poslala, Cacak Kolo, Malo Kolo, Moravac Kolo, Su Su Mile Kolo, Kukunjesce Kolo, Zikino Kolo, Kolo U Sest.

Julius was my Uncle! My mother'sbrother.
Just got my hands on the album, now I need to find a record player.
I only remember him from when I was a child and he'd come to visit. Couldn't wait to see Uncle Julius.

Think he'd have gotten a kick out of the name of my website.
