"Drina Tamburitza Orchestra with Mel Dokich" CD

posted by milan opacich on Jan 24th, 2008 at 12:23 pm

This recording was made in the 1970's after five years of playing with the legendary Mel Dokich on the violin. Mel Dokich was one of the greatest violinists of his time. He was the featured violinist on the Chicago television series "International Cafe", the hit series that we all eagerly watched on Saturday nights enjoying our ethnic music and dance. The excellent bugarija playing on the CD was done by Matt Jurasich, whose beautiful voice is featured on some of the vocals. Jack Tomlin is the bass player. Jack studied Classical bass and was very talented. Milan Opacich is the cello player andis the lead vocalist and joins in the group singing. This is a classic tape and a rare recording with Mel Dokich. .

Song list includes: Jovanka, Ima Dana, Kad Te Vidim, Gypsy Kolo ,Alaj, Salaj, Sve Pticice Iz Gore, Govori Se Da Me Varas, Crven Fezic, Izgubjeno Janje Ja Sam Jovicu, Nas Zivot Ciganski, Beograd, Hora In B flat.

Dear Mr. Opacich,

Do you have any biographical information on the vocalist Edo Ljubich? If not, can you refer me to another source?

Thank You
