YELP reviews from past year
04/03/2008 5 star rating This is a coffee and food review: I'm a patron of the snooty coffee places. You know the ones, on alleys in Hayes Valley or on busy commercial streets in the Mission. I go to Moto Java because the americano is as good as any in the city, and now that I'm a regular I don't even have to speak when I walk in the door: Maria sees me coming and the coffee is already being prepared. I don't get the food too often but when I have it's been very, very tasty. This is a great place to chill for a while, very low key (albeit quirky and real). I heart Moto Java.

Love this place - Maria is the best proprietress in SOMA.
I used to work across the street - perfect place to hit on your way to work for delicious coffee drinks, a mid-morning java pick up, tasty fresh lunch salads made in the teensy-tiny kitchen or late afternoon re-fuel.
A nice, mellow, neighborhood vibe + good people with heart and soul = Moto Java.
I feel like I'm upping my karmic return when I go to MotoJava. I only wish I could visit more often.

02/01/2008 4 star rating Great idea for a shop. Love the bikes, love the coffee, love the location. I looked here when I was first trying to get a bike, but they didn't have any bikes I wanted at the time. However, I understand their stock changes all the time... I just needed it at that moment. (Yes, needed... motorcycling is an itch that just HAS to be scratched, you know.)
01/15/2008 5 star rating I love this place. I work just a few buildings away on the same block and come here once a week or so for lunch.
Their coffee is really awesome too (not bitter!). I usually get the Cafe Au Lait because I like my milk with coffee :) Sometimes with a Biscotti or Scone (latter made fresh daily!). I have a colleague that orders the soy latte and he has also been back since :)
Their sandwiches some on delicious Ciabatta Bread.
I have talked to the guys in the shop about my little motorcycle (Honda C70 Passport) and they have always helped me out. He even came out with a wrench one time to have a look at my speedometer once and explained how to fix it!
Thanks for being awesome MotoJava
UPDATE: Playing Clap Your Hands Say Yeah while I am on my lunch break gives you an extra star; making it 6 stars! Sorry I can only give a total of 5 :(
01/09/2008 5 star rating Quirky, eccentric little respite from the evil American highways, on-and-off ramps Mega-Chain stores, and cracked out tweakers sleeping on the streets, in this hyper busy / industrial slice of SF known as SoMaThey have coffee, and other hot beverages as well a lunch menu
I've just started going there for coffee, in slippers.
It does have free Wifi (or at least assume it's free, saw ppl with laptops there and asked if it they had wifi, can't see them charging like Starbucks does)
Personally don't fuss with motos at this point in my life, having 10 bicycles, snowboards and fast german car is about all the projecting yourself around the globe one can handle, but do get hyped when see stuff like this

Back to the review
It's right across the street from Trader Joe's, Bed Bath and Beyond, near Costco and all those other urban feeding frenzies downtown
Support the little guys, your neighborhood will be richer for it.
12/15/2007 4 star rating What an awesome find in the trader joe's mecca of soma. The girl behind the counter, super nice and awesome, chopping fresh apple slices for my salad. I swear it might have been the freshest salad I've ever had. Throw in an above-average grilled turkey sando on some excellent bread topped with bell pepper, all for a very reasonable price, as well as free wifi, and you've got a four star joint. Almost perfect, if it weren't for the lack of non-fat milk. Every other part of the experience was exceptional!
11/29/2007 5 star rating Ah, I love this place! I bought my first bike there. The guys there will give you a good deal and are extremely helpful. If you need some quick service for your new bike, they will generally drop what they do to tweak your bike. Especially if you are a beginning rider. They each used to race and still do big time touring, so they know their stuff.
Motojava is really cool and is one of those places that makes San Francisco what it is... And the coffee is great!
11/05/2007 5 star rating I go into this coffee shop throughout the week and every time I have received fantastic service and coffee from the owner Marija. The atmosphere is great and I never have to wait long for service. I enjoy going to locate coffee shops instead of big chain coffee shops, simply because of service.
09/11/2007 5 star rating My first 5 star review contender is the Proud MOTOJAVA.
This place from the view of its red tapestry painted shoots an image of shady garage that somehow for some it does provide not much an welcome carpet.
But hello there if you are a biker like me this one piece of hell hangout that comprises of a bike repair shop with tons of straight to point advice on bikes that really matter and unlike most places where you need to do a quesstionnaire session with some chumps, the guys here are ultra cool about the way they dispose and share their views.
coming to the cafe portion this is one hell of a cafe if you have balls enough to take the espresso that really scares the best available in starbucks, the snacks and munchies that accompany are totally mouth watering and worth a try. and yeah the gal who makes the espresso is a lot cuter than the word cute :P
MOTO JAVA ROCKS
08/16/2007 4 star rating How can you go wrong with motorcycles and coffee? It's like two of my favorite things all rolled into one!
Paul runs a great shop. Always helpful and willing to talk. There's an interesting selection of bikes for sale and the coffee is hot, strong and tasty!
08/06/2007 3 star rating I've driven there, in a car, just to get one of their sandwiches.
07/12/2007 5 star rating I went there for my first time last week after a jaunt to B.B.& Beyond to buy a new dishrack. The espresso is fucking balls rocks up! The girl who makes it is cute.
06/27/2007 5 star rating I get my morning doses of nourishment, wit, and laughter from Marija. The regulars are great, the staff is extremely attentive (especially Milo), and the food is great. We need more of these quality grassroots businesses in San Francisco.
06/03/2007 5 star rating This is a great place. If I was not a Scooter guy this is where I would be buying my Motorcycle. For now I get my coffee hear when ever I drive by and see a place to park. The location is great its right off the 101 exit. I always enjoy talking to Joe and his partners and looking at there wares. Great M/C stuff covers the walls. Thanks for the fresh baked goodies and good cup of Joe.
05/09/2007 5 star rating Don't know a thing about motorcycles. The cafe though is great! I love arriving at work and smelling the sweet smell of something baking in the air. I walk down the block and then get that sweet something served to me right from the baking pan. I have not ever had that at any other cafe in the city. The woman that runs the cafe is very friendly.
05/03/2007 5 star rating I feel like buying a bike just so I can get it serviced there, it is that cool of a place. There is a lot of good ole SF charm and attitude, which is a good thing, say I.
Mostly my experience has been the cafe, it is so down home and the owner/chef exudes an amazing energy while serviing up delish baked goods, salads and innovative sandwiches. The coffee is like crack, it's that addictive.
04/23/2007 5 star rating I don't know a thing about motorcycles, buuuuut .... this place rocks hardcore.
The coffee is great (just plain ol' drip), the sandwiches are tasty, the baked goods are homemade and the service is so sweet.
My favorite coffee place in SF -- hands down.
04/15/2007 5 star rating I haven't tried the coffee yet, but the sandwich I had was excellent, as was the service.
04/08/2007 5 star rating Motorcycles and coffee! What more could you ask for? For me, it's food. But they thought of that too.
MotoJava rocks!
03/06/2007 5 star rating Excellent grub, nice folk and they carry Urban Moto, so make sure you pop in, eat, caffeinate and read the news!
