The attorneys at Schlyer & Associates, the Aggressive Trial Lawyers, are warning Subaru is recalling about 200,000 Legacy and Outback sedans and wagons from model years 2005-2009 to check for corroded brake lines according to a report posted by Thomson Reuters.

Subaru said the vehicles were sold in 20 "salt belt" states, mainly in the Northeast and Midwest, and most were built at its U.S. assembly plant in Lafayette, Indiana.

An official recall notice released Tuesday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that "salt water could splash on the brake lines through a gap in the fuel tank protector, resulting in excessive corrosion of the brake lines."

NHTSA said corrosion could cause brake fluid leakage, which could result in longer vehicle stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash.

Subaru on Tuesday said "no reports, accidents, injuries or incidents of failure have occurred." It said the problem was discovered by its Japanese parent during an internal testing program.

Subaru in its NHTSA recall filing said vehicle brake lines could be perforated after exposure to salt over seven or more winter seasons.

Owners can take their cars to Subaru dealers for a free inspection. Dealers will rustproof the affected area with anti-corrosion wax and, if necessary, replace the brake lines.

The recalled heaters were imported by United Pet Group, of Cincinnati, Ohio and were called Marineland Stealth and Stealth Pro Aquarium Heaters.  According to the recall notice, a wiring problem can cause the aquarium heaters to overheat or break during normal use, damaging the aquarium and posing fire and laceration hazards to consumers. Overheating can cause the heater to shatter or the aquarium glass to break.

The recalled heaters were sold at pet stores nationwide and on various websites from January 2004 through February 2011 for between $20 and $300 according to the recall notice.

The recalled trikes were manufactured by Kiddieland Toys Limited, of Scituate, Mass. According to the recall notice, the plastic castle display and the princess figures protruding from the top of the handle bar pose a laceration hazard if a child falls on it.

According to Volkswagen, a recall was issued affecting about 71,000 2011 Jettas  in order to reconfigure wiring related to its alarm system and horn.

According to a report posted by the Wall Street Journal, Johnson & Johnson has issued a recall pulling about 360,000 products sold in the U.S. used to drainsurgical wounds.

The report states, J&J’s Ethicon unit, which makes the Blake Silicone Drains, J-VAC reservoirs decided to recall the devices after receiving complaints the sterile packaging could be compromised.

According to a letter sent to customers by Ethicon, consumers should stop using the recalled products and call 866-664-1401 for further assistance.

Automobile manufacturer Hyundai issued a recall affecting about 285,000 Elantra vehicles according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

According to the recall notice, the Elantras will be recalled in two separate actions.

The first recall covers the 2007-2008 model years and affects about 96,000 cars.  The drivers-side air bag may deploy with full force.

The second Hyundai recall pertains to model years 2007 through 2009 and affects about 189,000 Elantras.  According to Hyundai, a liquid spilled in the front-console cup holder could leak through and cause an electrical problem. The condition might trigger the deployment of the passenger air bag, even if the occupant weighs so little that the bag should not inflate.

The recall involves the Rocket Stick Pogo, Pop Stick Pogo, Monster Stick Pogo and Twin Stick Pogo, according to the recall notice.  The pogo sticks were sold at various stores nationwide and online by Web retailers from May 2010 through March 2011 for between $25 and $40.
