CAMP KICK OFF LUNCHEON
Last Saturday, March 24, 2012, our St. George KSS together with the kolo from the St. George parish in East Chicago, were co-hosts for this year's CAMP KICK-OFF LUNCHEON. For many years, this luncheon has been the main fundraiser to help raise money for the summer camp at our Gracanica Monastery. All the kolos of the diocese work very hard to prepare and organize the details of this luncheon. We are especially thankful to our kolo ladies who worked extremely hard on making home made noodles, nut rolls and bread for the bake sale. Also there was a silent auction with many wonderful items and we truly thank ALL of the donors! We also thank all the sisters with their help for the raffle and for donating all the door prizes that the ladies were pleased to receive for their participation.
The Diocesan Kolo board was a tremdous help to us in planning this luncheon. Tijana Samardzija did a great job leading the program as our Mistress of Ceremonies. We were pleased to have his Grace Bishop Longin speak to say he looks forward to seeing our children back again this year at the monastery and thanked the sisters for their continued love and support. Due to a Diocesan meeting, it was nice to have clergy also attend from the surrounding parishes. The President, Mira Andjelkovic, gave an inspiring speech on how we all need to contiue to support the camp which our children so enjoy! We were also pleased to have Seja Price and Protinica Ana Krosnjar who enlightened everyone with their camp success stories! THANK YOU AGAIN TO ALL WHO HELPED AND OUR REWARD IS THAT OUR CHILDREN ARE REMAINING WITH OUR HOLY ORTHODOX CHURCH AND KNOWING OUR SERBIAN HERTITAGE!
