St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church

Serbian Orthodox Church, Merrillville, IN, was established in 1914 in Gary, IN. Divine Liturgy Sundays 10am, Fr. Marko Matic officiating; formerly served by Very Rev. Jovan Todorovich, retired after 36 years. Liturgical responses by Karageorge Choir. Sunday School starts 9:45am. in the new St. Sava Learning Center. Serbian School starts at 12:30 during 8-week sessions. Join us, everyone welcome! Folklore dance group and choir always accepting new members. Attend Sunday Luncheons after Liturgy, hosted by families or organizations, serving delicious homemade food and desserts.
South Wing SOCIAL CENTER NOW AVAILABLE for hosting social events, newly renovated and tastefully decorated. Showers, graduation parties, meetings, wedding receptions, baptisms, birthdays, and retirements can all be accommodated.

Where were you Friday night? St. Elijah Church sure put on a great event for all who attended. So many celebrated being Serbs by showing off those kolo dance moves this weekend. Srbija Band from Arizona, and local bands Ti Roma and Dunav entertained the huge crowds. The kitchen offered tasty plates of sarma, lamb, and cevaps and a bake sale with endless choices. You still have two days left to enjoy the games and evening festivities, so don't miss out!

Pre-School Right Start Enrichment Program at St. Sava Church

First-time ever Pre-school Enrichment Program will be offered to members and the community at the St. Sava Learning Center. Great classes will be offered during the week to help your child develop socially and boost his/her creativity. Parents and grandparents are encouraged to participate. Folklore Groups Host Sunday Luncheon

Join our great folklore dancers for the Sunday Luncheon after Divine Liturgy. Bring the entire family and friends to this fun social event. The food is always great, and you'll have a chance to relax and visit with friends. Your free-will Donations help the kids fund their travels and pay their instructor. An Exhibit honoring the memory of our beloved Bishop Peter will also be on display through the 19th in the south wing.

Bishop Peter Memorial Tribute in South Wing

On both Sundays after Divine Liturgy, view the display of photos, Cross, and scrapbook that were part of Bishop (Father) Peter's personal collection. Stay for the luncheon and take your time to see over 100 pictures of his ordained life, travels, and friendships. Please bring your children and explain how very special he was to us all. Father Tom Kazich donated these items presented by the Serbian Historical Society.
