Serbian Orthodox Church, Merrillville, IN, was established in 1914 in Gary, IN. Divine Liturgy Sundays 10am, Fr. Marko Matic officiating; formerly served by Very Rev. Jovan Todorovich, retired after 36 years. Liturgical responses by Karageorge Choir. Sunday School starts 9:45am. in the new St. Sava Learning Center. Serbian School starts at 12:30 during 8-week sessions. Vespers served Tuesdays and Saturdays at 6:00 p.m. Join us, everyone welcome! Folklore dance group and choir always accepting new members. Attend Sunday Luncheons after Liturgy, hosted by families or organizations, serving delicious homemade food and desserts.
South Wing SOCIAL CENTER NOW AVAILABLE for hosting social events, newly renovated and tastefully decorated. Showers, graduation parties, meetings, Skup Svatova, wedding receptions, baptisms, birthdays, and retirements can all be accommodated.

Attend St. Sava's 94th Anniversary Celebration Sunday, Nov. 23rd

Sunday, November 23rd marks 94 years of history for our congregation. The executive board and Father Marko extend their invitation to this wonderful celebration. Divine Liturgy starts at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Laying of the Wreath and Pomen at the Monument. Anniversary Banquet and Program start at 12:30 p.m. at St. Elijah Social Center (8700 Taft).

Father Dusan Bunjevic from San Francisco was scheduled to be the main speaker, but is unable to make the trip for health reasons. Keynote address will be made by Father Dennis Pavicevich from Chicago. St. Sava's Folklore Group and S.S.S. Karageorge will perform a short program. Please join us for this special celebration.

Serbian Sisters Circle Invites You to Their Slava Celebration, St. Paraskeva

St. Sava's Serbian Sisters Circle celebrates their Slava, St. Paraskeva, this Sunday, October 26th. Please attend the blessing and cutting of the Kolach and Banquet in the south wing following Divine Liturgy.  A  special presentation by the Sunday School children will honor the Patron Saint of our Kolo Sisters. The Kolo Sisters would also like to invite everyone to church on Monday, October 27th, where they will observe Parastos for all deceased members and reading of their names. Refreshments will follow.

"Mothers Against Hunger" Humanitarian Banquet-Please Donate

The 4 Kolos, Serbian Sisters Circles of Northwest Indiana, invite you to attend the 16th Annual Mothers Against Hunger Humanitarian Banquet. This year's banquet will be hosted by St. George of East Chicago on Sunday, October 5th at 1:00 p.m. The Hall is located at 4021 Elm Street in East Chicago. The entire proceeds from this fund-raiser will benefit the refugees, orphans, sick, and elderly in Serbia and Kosovo. You will hear reports from members of the 4 Kolos who personally deliver the monies. Your generosity will impact the lives of many who are suffering the effects of war and poverty. If for any reason you cannot attend, donations can be given to a Kolo Officer or sent to any church office with the check made to: "Mothers Against Hunger".
