St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church

Serbian Orthodox Church, Merrillville, IN, was established in 1914 in Gary, IN. Divine Liturgy Sundays 10am, Fr. Marko Matic officiating; formerly served by Very Rev. Jovan Todorovich, retired after 36 years. Liturgical responses by Karageorge Choir. Sunday School starts 9:45am. in the new St. Sava Learning Center. Serbian School starts at 12:30 during 8-week sessions. Vespers served Tuesdays and Saturdays at 6:00 p.m. Join us, everyone welcome! Folklore dance group and choir always accepting new members. Attend Sunday Luncheons after Liturgy, hosted by families or organizations, serving delicious homemade food and desserts.
South Wing SOCIAL CENTER NOW AVAILABLE for hosting social events, newly renovated and tastefully decorated. Showers, graduation parties, meetings, Skup Svatova, wedding receptions, baptisms, birthdays, and retirements can all be accommodated.

Advanced orders are still being taken for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Please call the church office early at 736-9191 for details. Delicious Nut Rolls and Strudels are only $10 each. Pick up orders in the south wing this Saturday, November 22nd from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Serbian Cook Books will also be offered, gift wrapped, for only $15 each. Pick up an extra one for a Holiday gift.

How about a quick and easy way to serve your guests a delicious treat this Thanksgiving Holiday? St. Sava's Serbian Sisters have been busy peeling apples and stretching the dough. Nothing else compares to a strudel fresh out of the oven. Strudels are sold frozen and ready to bake. Nut Rolls are pre-baked, frozen, and ready to go. You'll be glad you have one handy when company arrives. Call in your order (219) 736-9191 or download this ORDER FORM BELOW and FAX it to (219) 736-7836. Order early, as quantities are limited. Hurry on down to the south wing and bring your friends on Saturday, March 15th. The Kolo Sisters are busy preparing nut rolls, strudels, and countless baked treats for the Easter Holiday. Come early for the best selection, or call the church office to reserve strudels or nut rolls. The Bake Sale will be open from 9 am until 3 pm.

Pre-School Right Start Enrichment Program at St. Sava Church

First-time ever Pre-school Enrichment Program will be offered to members and the community at the St. Sava Learning Center. St. Elijah "FRULA" Hosts Folklore Festival

Everyone is invited to attend "Frula"'s Fall Folklore Festival at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22nd. Many guest folklore groups will perform and a dance will follow at St. Elijah Hall, 8700 Taft Street, Merrillville.

St. Sava's 94th Anniversary Celebration - Sunday November 23rd

Join in the celebration of St. Sava Church's 94th Anniversary on Sunday, November 23rd. Divine Liturgy will start at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Memorial Tribute on the South Lawn. The Banquet will start at 1:00 p.m. at St. Elijah's Hall. Keynote Speaker will be Fr. Dennis Pavicevich from Chicago, who has graciously accepted our invitation. Fr. Dusan Bunjevic cannot make the trip for health reasons. Please save this date marking the rich history of our church and honoring our deceased members.
