Video Clips from Daft Punk

posted by symmetry on Jul 31st, 2007 at 9:19 am

Here are some clips I shot at the Daft Punk concert this past weekend in Berkeley, CA.

These robots from outer space, who descended on the outdoor Greek Theater from inside their psycho-cosmic-hyper-transporter pyramid, brought messages of brotherhood and love to the people of earth. We are Human, After All!

TRG Takes 1st AND 2nd at Laguna Seca

posted by symmetry on May 22nd, 2007 at 6:18 pm
Team TRG dominated this weekend at the Laguna Seca racetrack in Monterey California, taking 1st and 2nd place in the GT class race, and 2nd place in the GS class. Drivers Andy Lally and R.J. Valentine made their first overall win at Laguna, with just barely enough fuel to pass car #66 over the finish line. With 4 cars in the GT race, and 4 in the GS, TRG put it all on the line and it paid off. TRG team owner Kevin Buckler said, "A 1-2 finish is almost unheard of in todays ultra competitive racing environment so we couldn't be happier."

Having shot several races for TRG and Blue Coast Films, I'm always baffled at how few people attend Grand Am series races. I always have a great time. And nothing beats being trackside, fully stimulated by the intense environment. The only downside to attending a race is the ride home. I end up hitting 100+ MPH a few times... just can't help myself.

Here is the Race Report I shot and edited for TRG:

My assignment was to focus more on TRG's operations rather than capturing the race, so most of these are from the garage and pit.

Local Scoop: Warriors, Robots and Races

posted by symmetry on May 14th, 2007 at 5:35 pm

The hottest ticket right now in Oakland is for the Golden State Warriors playoff games. Fans have blanketed the city in WE BELIEVE banners. I saw a sign for 2 tickets at the Grand Lake Farmers Market this weekend. One vendor was selling bleacher seats for $250. Next game is May 15th at Utah. Go Warriors!

Like homemade robots, fire sculptures, kite hacks or power tool drag races? The Maker Faire is for you! Check out all sorts of DIY projects and clever hacks this weekend at the San Mateo fairgrounds:

A two-day, family-friendly event that celebrates arts, crafts, engineering, science projects and the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) mindset. It's for creative, resourceful folks who like to tinker and love to make things. We call them Makers.

Think you're the King of Fling? Enter your home-brew catapult device for the King of Fling contest. Tickets for Maker Faire are still on sale. See you there on Sunday!

TRG J-Lowe Racing Daytona 24 Rolex 2007 On Saturday I will be traveling down to the Laguna SECA race track in Monterey for some professional sports car racing action. I am shooting footage for Team TRG, who will have several cars racing in both classes. I covered TRG at Daytona Speedway in January, where J-Lowe Racing took third position for the GT class. This will be my third time returning to Laguna SECA. Tickets are $20.

If you've never been to a race, then consider going this weekend. It will be tons of fun and the kids will love it. You can even bid on an auction to win a pit crew pass and 2 night stay at some fancy hotel in Carmel. The auction ends Wednesday at noon and it's currently only at $250. I'd do it if I didn't already have a pit pass!
